Moonlight Monday: Collegiate Peaks Chapter Trout Unlimited
September 28, 2020
10% of the day’s total sales will be donated to Collegiate Peaks Chapter Trout Unlimited (CPCTU)
The Collegiate Peaks Chapter of Trout Unlimited was chartered in 1985. We accomplished our first stream improvement project within the first month of existence and have been hard at work ever since. Starting with 35 people, the chapter now boasts nearly 300 members throughout the upper Arkansas River valley. This chapter has won numerous state and national TU awards and our projects have garnered many state and federal agency awards as well. We provide college scholarship funding for students pursuing Aquatic Biology/Natural Resources studies. We also fund local students attending the CTU Youth Conservation Camp, Stream Explorers for middle school students, to name just a few. We helped establish the long-term Ecosystems Learning Center site on the South Arkansas River in collaboration with the CO Dept. of Parks & Wildlife, SCC, GARNA, and LTUA. We continue to partner with the CCC, GARNA, and other non-profits in the region on various projects. CPCTU is proud to be involved with Project Healing Waters, providing a fishing experience for veterans as they readjust from military service. We also provide annual Fishing Derbies and BBQs for children in Salida and Buena Vista, which is a family favorite. As part of our community involvement, we have an annual Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up. We are a strong chapter, with a membership that has grown into life-long friendships. It is gratifying to be a part of our community, add to the economic success of our area, and contribute to the health of our beautiful Arkansas River and Valley.
