elevateHER's mission is to inspire self-worth and grit in young women through mentoring, outdoor adventure and holistic wellness programs.

Founded in 2017, elevateHER addresses the opportunity gap and participation barriers for young women to participate in outdoor recreation and leadership development opportunities in Chaffee County and beyond by providing a safe environment with access to outdoor gear and equipment, transportation, positive peer interactions and a wide range of health-promoting activities that they would not normally have access to. We engage school age girls, ages 10-18, in activities such as skiing, rafting, rock climbing and hiking, all taught to industry standards. These activities prepare them for future employment in the local tourism or environmental protection industries, all sectors that would benefit from greater gender parity. Yoga and meditation, environmental stewardship projects, and wellness workshops accompany these activities, with an aim of giving youth a useful stress management tool, opportunities to build their physical and mental health, mitigating negative risk taking (e.g., drug and alcohol use), access to supportive relationships, and help building the leadership and life skills needed to thrive and succeed in school, their careers and beyond.
