At Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub, we’re all about good food and giving back, and SOIL Sangre de Cristo is one organization that shares our passion for nourishing our community. They’ve been hard at work improving food security right here in South Central Colorado, making sure that local farmers, ranchers, and food producers have the support they need to thrive.

Who They Are

SOIL Sangre de Cristo’s mission is simple: build a stronger, more resilient local food system. They do this by offering 0% interest loans to regional farmers, ranchers, and other food producers. That means more fresh, local food for all of us—and that’s something we can all get behind!

What They’re Up To

Thanks to SOIL Sangre de Cristo, some of your favorite local producers have been able to grow (literally!). Here are just a few ways they’ve made a difference:

  • Rocky Mountain Garlic can now grow veggies and fresh eggs year-round, thanks to new hoop houses and a greenhouse made possible by support from SOIL Sangre de Cristo.

  • Alpine Valley Mushrooms has become the go-to mushroom provider for Southern Colorado, with the help of SOIL’s loan support.

  • SLV Apothecary expanded their offerings with new refrigeration and freezer units, allowing them to keep more local, fresh products available.

  • Elevation Farm and Orchard now provides fresh greens and herbs year-round, supported by a new indoor vertical growing system.

It’s all about supporting local farmers who provide us with the freshest, tastiest food around—and SOIL Sangre de Cristo is leading the charge.

Where the Moonlight Monday Funds Go

The funds raised during their Moonlight Monday go directly into SOIL’s revolving loan fund, helping local farmers, ranchers, and food producers expand their operations and serve the community. Plus, thanks to a 50% match from the Mighty Arrow Family Foundation, every donation makes an even bigger impact—helping build a more sustainable and resilient local food network. Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub is proud to play a small part in supporting these incredible efforts through our partnership with SOIL Sangre de Cristo and our Moonlight Monday program, helping to strengthen our local food systems.

What’s Next for SOIL Sangre de Cristo?

Looking ahead, SOIL Sangre de Cristo is working to grow their revolving loan fund and continue supporting local food producers. Their ultimate goal? Ensuring that more fresh, affordable, and local food makes its way to our tables.
