Partnership for Community Action
The Partnership for Community Action (PfCA) is a grassroots movement working to build a more equitable future in Salida and rural Colorado. Their efforts center on amplifying the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community, their families, and allies through education, connection, and advocacy.
Who They Are
Founded with a mission to create change, PfCA works to uplift and support the queer and trans communities in rural Colorado. Their efforts span multiple areas, from advocating for inclusive education and healthcare to creating safe spaces and social connections. The organization's Pillars of Care provide the foundation for their work:
LGBTQ+ Futures
Inclusive Youth Support and Advocacy in Education
Community Health and Safety
Transportation, Housing, and Healthcare
Education and Awareness
Social Connections and Community Building
Faith Space and Support
Community Engagement & Grassroots Solutions
By focusing on these pillars, PfCA strives to ensure a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone in the community.
What They’re Up To
The PfCA has launched several impactful initiatives, including:
The Your Authentic Self! (YAS!) Club, a GSA-style support club in Salida schools, which has been shown to significantly reduce suicide rates among LGBTQ+ youth.
The Arkansas River Valley LGBTQ+ Fund, which provides financial support to individuals and groups creating safe, inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ community.
Ongoing partnerships with local public health agencies to provide advocacy and access to sexual health services, including STI and HIV testing.
Through these programs and more, PfCA continues to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals and their families in rural Colorado.
Where the Moonlight Monday Funds Go
Funds raised during their Moonlight Monday will support key initiatives such as the Ark Valley Pride event, the YAS! Club, and prosocial activities in Chaffee County. Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub is proud to support their efforts, helping create a more inclusive and equitable community for all.
What’s Next for PfCA?
Looking ahead, PfCA is focused on building their work into the fabric of Chaffee County. They plan to continue expanding their support for the LGBTQIA+ community through advocacy, education, and connection, with a focus on making the community a safer and more welcoming place for everyone.
